Dick Advocaat was born on 27 September 1947 in the Hague city of Southern Netherlands. He started football at the age of 19 in Den Haag, his own city team. He continued his football career in middle field for nearly 18 years. After leaving football, he served as Assistant Manager at the Dutch national team and three years later he started his career as a professional coach.

After running many different clubs in the ' 90s, the 2000's mostly used career preference for national teams. Belgium, Russia, Serbia, the Netherlands and South Korea, the country's national teams as a manager has announced its name worldwide. In 2015, he signed a contract with Sunderland, one of the strong teams of the England League, and from the moment he arrived, he managed to establish a throne in the heart of the fans.
