Ian Somerhalder was born on December 8, 1978 in Louisiana, one of the three children of Edna and Robert Somerhalder. When her parents got divorced, she spent most of her childhood years with her massage therapist. While still in elementary school, she started modeling professionally and became the advertising face of many child brands. When he was 17, he went to New York and started his acting career.
