Joaquin Phoenix was born on October 28, 1974 in San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico, as the Son of arlyn and John bottom. When he was only four years old, he moved to Los Angeles with his family and settled in and spent his childhood here. In the years that he started primary school education, he appeared on the screens by taking small roles in low-budget series. His brother, River Phoenix, was one of the most famous child actors of the time, and he soon rose to prominence in Joaquin's career.

In 1995, he took his first serious role in the film ”endless passion”, which he had the chance to play with Nicole Kidman.
