Lauren Cohan was born on January 7, 1982 in New Jersey as a British mother and daughter of an American father. He spent his childhood in Cherry Hill county and lived in Georgia for a year on account of his family's work. When he was 13, he moved to England permanently with his family and took the name of cohan, who belonged to his stepfather. In high school, under the influence of his stepfather, he changed his religion and became a Jew.
