Liam Neeson was born in June 1952 in Ballyena, the eighth largest town in Northern Ireland. He spent his childhood in Ireland with his father and three siblings in kindergarten. When he was still in primary school, he started playing boxing and soon became the Irish youth champion. However, he later decided to quit this sport as a result of his nose break during a competition.

A few years after he started his university education, he dropped out of school and got a job at a famous beer company.
